A downloadable game for Windows and macOS

*This game is intended to be a work-in-progress for teaching moments. I want to keep working on it in the future, but only when I have the time*

For the Turn-Based Jam hosted by 8-bits-to-infinity, I decided to delve into the nitty gritty from a childhood favorite, Heroes III (of Might and Magic) and see what I can learn from trying to recreate the battle sequences.

How to play (TLDR):

You start by building/purchasing your army. Your army consists of max 7 troops which fight as one entity. Having a larger number of units in a troop will increase the power and durability of that troop, but consequently each troop can only perform one action per round.

In combat, creatures act in turn based on their Speed (so it will jump between your creatures and the AI often). Some creatures shoot from a distance, while others can only attack adjacent foes (you can move before performing melee attacks).

Note: There is a "full" manual in-game to explain how to play.

Controls (mouse is highly recommended)

Left mouse click: Pretty much everything :P

Right mouse click (or "i"): the "info" button which opens popups in various places when held.

Theme (The world keeps changing)

Due to time constraints I wasn't able to implement my main idea for the theme: the player and AI have the ability to cast spells that change the environment (build/destroy walls, plant mines and quicksand, etc.). Currently the only part that fits the theme is the army you fight with changes each time you play (by choice).

Credits

I (HLBC) wrote all code and drew up all visuals in this project.

The game idea, however, was heavily inspired by the Heroes of Might and Magic games.

*There are no in-game music/sound effects in this version*

I really admire the fact that you keep releasing games

Thanks! I've always wanted to make my own games, so I've been savoring the extra free time I have right now to do just that :)
