Lots of Highlighting! (v0.2)


After the first three streams for the Turn Based Jam's feedback checkpoint, I decided to work on some of the points brought up right away to maximize feedback potential for the two streams to come!

There are main features I wanted to implement, but after watching the streams I found that a lot of the basic features were still too confusing or prone to error so I focused this whole update on improving the features currently in place.

Main Changes:

  • The troop that is currently taking its turn is highlighted and you can no longer accidentally click on its original tile.
  • Fixed bug when you click multiple times while the creature is following its movement path (breaks pathing).
  • If a troop moves next to an enemy, they are given a chance to attack (before, you had to specify the attack before moving).
  • Ranged characters show the range of their attacks (light grayish blue tiles in screenshot) as well as their movement (redish tiles).
  • Added cursors that give context clues to what action occurs upon clicking (all quite small currently, but I'm working on larger versions).
  • Many other small visual tweaks to help with differentiating things...
